‘Concrete without cement’

Cement is a large component of concrete and has a negative environmental impact. The production of one ton cement also releases one ton of CO2 into the air. For reasons of sustainability, Evolve is striving to create concrete based on a polymer instead of cement.

Geopolymer concrete is a product where the traditional cement is replaced by a binding material consisting of industrial residues with strong alkaline activators. Besides mitigating the negative effects for the environment, this combination also results in a much faster hardening process as well as a more stable and resistant end product.

Challenges for the development of geopolymer relate to the adequate combination of materials, certain existing patents, shrinking and rebar.
